I’m just putting some final polish on my promised “Religion Vs. Relationship” post entitled “His ‘Knock, Knock’ Is No Joke”. What was intended as a normal-length post turned into the equivalent of a series, so I’ll need a few more days to put the finishing touches on it.
I would, however, like some feedback from you, my faithful readers, on how I publish it:
In your opinion, would you prefer one long post (3000ish words) that flows well together in an eye-pleasing format?
Or…
As a series of several smaller posts (300-400 average), although they’ll have the slightly choppier and disjointed feel inherent to a series?
Leave me a quick comment and let me know.
As a final note, for your viewing pleasure until it’s posted, I’ll leave you with this link/video my son sent me. It’s got some pretty amazing stunts from YouTube.
I do have one condition though….
DO NOT TRY THESE AT HOME!!!
🙂
Hi. I prefer the smaller posts because they are easier to read. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the feedback!
I suspect yours will be the overwhelming opinion, so I will probably be posting it that way, and then offering it in its entirety as a document for those who request it.
Thanks for your quick response and for the input.

I also prefer shorter posts. I tend to get a little winded sometimes when its’s a subject I’m passionate about so it can be tricky to keep it shorter. But, I always find it easier to read shorter ones. I like your idea of making it a series! I can’t wait to read it!

Hey you! Welcome back to the land of the bloggers! Did you have a nice visit with your family?
I suspect your opinion will be the vast majority, so I imagine that’s how I’ll be posting it. I’m thinking I’ll probably offer it by request as a pdf or something to those who prefer it all together.
Thanks for the feedback. It’s good to have you back!

Thanks! It was wonderful! I’m excited to blog about it…once I figure out where to start! Ha!
I like your PDF idea! That’s a great option!

Wow. Those stunts are something else. Incredibly unbelievable. I won’t be sharing with my two 21 year old sons.

They are, aren’t they. I wish there was a no-hurt guarantee! And you sound like a very wise mom!
Thanks for reading!

I thought so. It looks like fun to try some of those… if they came with a guarantee that I wouldn’t get hurt! 🙂
I admire their courage…. or is it that I scoff at their lunacy. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference!
Thanks for reading!

Any time you post in a blog format, smaller is better. Readers are used to scrolling through several offerings in their Reader. Personally yes, smaller is good for me as well. ; )

As I expected, so far it’s unanimous. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes James, 3k blog posts don’t seem terribly welcome. I used to do c.1,200 word posts, but have since found that around 800/900 is optimal for the sort of things I write about. I can’t do anything meaningful with 300 words in my area, and so I post those longer 800-word pieces, but only sparingly — at the very most one a month, often far less frequently.

Thanks for the input. I figured you’d be one of my few kindred spirits that actually enjoys the longer pieces, at least when they are written exceptionally well.
300 words will work for a few of my entries in this series, but several will still be a little longer.
Thanks again!
