Blog of the Hour — Adventures of a Busy Mom

“When I look around, I see so much beauty. Sunsets, the mountains, the crashing waves, rainbows… these are all things that God provided to remind us of His abiding presence.”

Once again, Lacy, the author of “Adventures of a Busy Mom“, offers up an awesome observation in her post “Seek Him Always“. This one spoke to me so deeply because it is so pertinent to my love of nature and to my “Soul Spring Magic” post, the story of a young man finding peace and strength in nature when he took the time to listen to God speaking through it.

I actually relate deeply with all the content Lacy puts on her blog. She is becoming a major conduit for the Spirit to speak into my life, my heart, and my ministry. She has a refreshing writing style: down-to-earth, unassuming, personable, real… and yet so profound in her observations.  Unlike the things I am often guilty of in my writing style,  she puts on no airs (guilty!), no fancy-schmansy bombast (guilty!), no ostentatious vocabulary (guilty!), no complex sentence structures or subliminal metaphors (guilty! guilty!). Just soul-calming straight talk in straight language straight from her heart to yours.

And she’s always that way, no matter what she’s writing about.

She often writes about nature, and like I said before, I like that. I love nature and the peace and comfort and strength to be found there. Lacy lives in Hawaii, a paradise on earth rich with beautiful fodder for blog posts on nature. She writes a “Trekking Thursday” segment each week describing one of her many hikes through the natural wonders of the Garden of Eden she calls home.

I love my kids and think family is the most important thing in life, second only to my love for God, and Lacy posts often about her eponymous adventures as a busy mom of two darling children and her deep comittment to them. (There’s that bombastic vocabulary I’m often guilty of!) She provides sound parenting wisdom, offers creative ideas for strengthening family relationships, and teaches by example when she shares with us her life experiences.

I love my wife. Passionately. Unreservedly. Unconditionally. Unrelentingly. And it’s obvious from her blog how much she loves her husband. I appreciate him for allowing her the time and freedom to give of herself into our lives. I thank him for sharing her with us.

I love my country, and as a military wife, I know she does to.

I love good food, and she has a  weekly segment called “Tasty Tuesday” for sharing her family’s favorite recipes.

Most importantly, I love God and seek to develop an initmate relationship with Him through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Lacy’s regular segment on faith in “Soulful Sunday” lets us see into her heart of faith towards God and her relationship with Christ, inspiring us, introducing us to Him, leading us into His presence.

If you’ve read through many of my posts, you’ve seen how often I mention her work, but I’m sure she would appreciate a personal visit. Hop on over to her blog and give her a few likes and a couple of comments. Better yet, if you have the time, add her to your list of followed blogs. Let the Spirit use her to enrich your life as much as she has mine. With her homespun wisdom, calming influence, and online friendship, you also may feel much of the weight of life’s burdens and stresses relieved.

  1. James, this put me to tears! I dedicate a lot of heart and time into my blog and I sometimes question if it’s worth it. I mean, I don’t have any sponsers, I’m not getting paid and it really is time consuming However…It’s comments like yours and your constant support that proves to me that IT IS WORTH IT. God has given me this outlet to just be myself and to inspire others. If I only reach one person, it still is fulfilling Gods desire for me to spread His love. I’ve grown so much as a mom and as a Christian by professing my faith through this blog as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support!
    With Aloha, Lacy

  2. Hi James. What a lovely testimonial to Lacy, quite obviously a woman who writes from her heart so someone I know I could easily relate to. This is s beautiful post and reblog. I have a feeling I’ve just discovered two wonderful new bloggers.
