Alarm Clock sits at the edge of the Land of Nightstand,
a Meadow-Green Doily adorning the expanse.
It has no numbers,
just a Fiery Orange Glow waking the world.
Little by little, Fine-China Bowl
with the modernistic pattern of orange and blue and purple striations
appears
as Count Chocula night,
with milky-white starlight peeping between the gaps,
slides down the gullet of space
one Pale-Orbed Mawful at a time.
The Moon ate the Dark for breakfast.

Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this, I invite you to check out what I think of as my best work on “My BYOB List (My Personal Favorites)”.
I’m normally not much of a poet (and after reading this you can see that I’m still not), but a beautiful sunrise on the way to work this morning conjured this visual based on Brave and Reckless’ writing challenge and I just had to get it down on paper. It’s too late, betrays too much poetic inexperience and is not good enough for submission, but it was still fun to write, so even if for no one else, I posted it for myself.
But I still hope you enjoyed it at least a little.
If a sunrise can’t inspire us, I don’t know what can.
